Avanta is definately not for everyone. It's only somewhat useful if you will do any national minimum wage job anywhere, any hours or want to be put into voluntary work. After doing C.V, letter work, group sessions and mock interviews your advisor will start forwarding your details to vacancies for all kinds of work. It's then is just like the job centre except if you don't like the sound of a job they apply for on your behalf it leads to sanctions in your jobseekers allowance. Avanta is performanced based so remember you are classed as a customer.

I feel your pain bro! Ive been lumbered with Avanta as well, in Bolton, since August. What a useless bunch of cnuts they are (Though, I have to admit, nowhere near as bad as my FND 'providers'. What an absolute clusterfuck THAT was!!).
The thing that bums me out about these jokers is that they're getting paid to tell me to do what I was already doing anyway; and when I do find a job, they claim the credit! Well, ones things for sure, when I do find gainful employment it wont be because of anything these numpties have done!

It looks like it's just gonna be the same as the jobcentre, this. Every 2 weeks I go and see a guy at A4e and he asks what jobs I've applied for, but he's not understanding my problems, just says "cool" to everything and we're not getting on very well. I don't think he has any new resources to get me out of unemployment but try these little "courses"...I went to one today about motivation. Only one other person there. Lasted a couple of hours. Nice guy, big character, quite possibly, nuts. The speech wasn't any real benefit though, it's just pure common sense. Forgot to claim my ÂŁ3.50 bus fare for that small waste of time....

I'm stuck on a merry-go-round. These people are getting paid for nothing again.

It might depends where you are in the country, or what stage you are on. Ask your advisor (either Job Centre or Avanta/A4e) for clarification as to who you provider is. Avanta may be the middle man in your area.

It might also be like what it was in Hartlepool - They where in a temporary location while the main office was refurbished.

Just don't let any of this get you down, post any stories in the forums (please provide an active email address for verification), it is very therapeutic :)

I don't get how you actually got to see Avanta.

When I was refereed to them a few weeks ago, thinking it was going to be a load of shite, I googled for people's experiences, etc and found this site, but when I got there, it was an A4e building, A4e staff...I thought where where Avanta? I was told that Avanta were just a company that does referrals to places like A4e.

The are (still) shite, btw. I've never had a positive experience with A4e, in fact, I hate everything about them.
